Homemade Christmas Gifts Your Family Members Will Love - Photography Albums

By Joy Starlin

Before long, the Christmas Season are going to be here. That means it's time to start contemplating what you should give the people on your list. The individuals inside my family are usually searching for something other than the standard Amazon gift card to give (even though they are appreciated, to be sure). In order to keep Christmas spending at a workable level, every one of the adults draw names, which results in more cash for the children's presents. In addition it allows us to put somewhat more thought into finding the perfect present for the individual we draw. Homemade Christmas Gifts are definitely the way to tell the individual I picked just how much I love them.

I went in my mother's basement quite a while ago and found a number of containers filled with photos from my childhood, my parents' early years, and also a number from my grandparents! I'd bet there's someone in your family that has a similar stash of old photographs that you could raid. It may even be you keeping track of the limitless supply of family photos. If it is, you're in the best situation possible to do something wonderful for your family members - give them a personalized gift that not only brings back memories, but also provides them something to love for years to come.

If you choose to assemble a homemade Christmas gift from some of those old family snap shots, the first thing you need to do is gather together all the images you have access to. Since digital photography is becoming so popular within the last decade or so, it should be an easy task to get images from family if you don't have all of them yourself. Whether or not your Cousin Margaretwon't let you take her irreplaceable images outside her house, and she has no idea how to run a pc, you can still get copies of her images when you have a digital camera. Most digital camera's nowadays will enable you to take a picture of a picture. Just be sure you have decent lighting while you take the snapshot so that you do not get any reflections. Your cousins will thank you, too, because in all likelihood they are working to get their hands on these pictures too! This can also make it simpler for you to include pictures within your designs which are of a uniform size, since you are able to change the proportions of the photo prior to when you print.

Next, determine what kind of gift would be best for the recipient by contemplating what they enjoy the most, and building upon it. For example, just what does your dad do for fun and where does he prefer to spend time? Use the answers to these questions to find ideas. Is your dad into everything digital? Then he could possibly appreciate digital photography albums - simply grab a relatively inexpensive model, download and install your favorite image choices, and voila, a gift sure to cause him to grin.

Does your sister have a collection of items with pigs on them? If so, then go down to your local craft store, pick up a pink photo album, pig shaped stamps, ribbons, tiny ceramic pigs, anything at all you can think of to pick up and incorporate them into the album. If you know a little Photoshop or some other imaging software you can use it to insinuate little pigs into the pictures - like a Where's Waldo? game in your family snapshots. She'd probably have as much fun finding the hidden pigs as she will getting copies of family pictures she hasn't seen for years.

Does your father travel a lot? Then maybe a mini photo album would be a good choice for him. You can upload a collection of photos to a digital photo site, pick a layout, insert your photos and print him a hard cover book that will hold up to the rigors of travel. A durable book of photos will be much better for him in long run, as it will not easily wear out. And even if he forgets it, the photos will be online so he can look at them whenever he wants!

Digital printing technology being what it is these days, you can have photos printed in just about any size and on any type of media you'd like. If you take this technology and combine it with some creativity on your part you can come up with any number of fantastic gifts for the people on your list. Just take a few minutes to come up with an excellent concept, and you'll have a gift this holiday season that will be remembered for years to come.
