About Caravan Vacations And Holiday Parks

By Byron Jonas

Caravan vacations are the best way to enjoy a holiday sans the price tag. The UK, for example, has caravan parks in every county. There are thousands all put together, and this actually makes it a little bit difficult to choose the right one. A few details about what usually comes with a caravan and holiday park may turn out to be useful.

For starters, forget anything that makes it seem like what they call trailer trash across the Atlantic, in the United States. These caravans are quite livable and well equipped. Each caravan should have at least a kitchen and a shower room, along with a tv and a home theatre system.

Also, the parks housing these caravans are not just an open corner in the woods. They provide all the modern amenities and facilities that one finds in any good resort, including swimming pools and restaurants. The surrounding area should also provide facilities like playgrounds and cafes, bars and entertainment outlets.

Aside from choosing a park with all these facilities, it's also important to select the most suitable destination. Sure, there's no paucity of holiday parks. But there's one for every occasion, including the Scottish Highlands for natural beauty, Nottinghamshire for a tourist experience and Dover or Cornwall for a beach vacation.

Second thing that needs to be considered is the cost of the facilities on offer at parks in the chosen destination. Unless a traveler has a caravan that can be hauled along to the park, one of the park's static caravans has to be rented. The caravans are usually large enough (60-65") to easily house 6 to 8 people, so extended families and groups can enjoy cheap caravan vacations by sharing the cost of a single caravan.

It's very cheap compared to a hotel room, though. Make sure the park doesn't charge for a lot of extras, because most of it should come free by paying for the caravan. Most are also pet-friendly, but again it is best to verify the pet policies of the park before hand.

Those who don't own their own caravan or haven't tried staying in a caravan park before should do so at least once, in order to get the experience. It is like an acquired taste, and travelers will get used to the cheap rates, freedom and comfort of caravan vacations. After that, it is hard to go back to a small hotel room and pay so much for it.
