Locating Dubai On the World Map

By Sunil Sajnani

You could know quite a bit about Dubai but not know exactly where it's located. There's a lot of information online as well as Dubai maps that show Dubai geography and its nearby areas. What is interesting is that several people know or have heard a lot about Dubai but do not exactly know where it is located.

If you have looked at the discussions in the About Dubai City section you must already know that Dubai has made a lot of wealth due of its free trade zones. It is able to attract many traders and merchants as a result of of its ideal placement on the map of the world.

Its central location makes it a perfect place for many companies to set up distributorships to establish the shortest routes to most of Asia and other continents. Further, its waterfront location makes it an easy place for traders to meet at the various Dubai ports.

Therefore where is it located exactly? It's a peninsula located on the shore of the Persian Gulf region of the United Arab Emirates (UAE). It shares borders with Abu Dhabi, Sharjah and Oman. The first 2 are Emirates of the UAE while Oman is a separate nation.

Dubai is just around sea level (16m / 52 ft. above) and covers an area of just over four thousand square kilometers or one thousand five hundred square miles (second biggest in the UAE). Its specific grid coordinate location is 25.2697 N 55.3095 E and it falls within the Arabian Desert area.

Because of its location, you could expect Dubai weather to be Hot! Expect the total area of the Dubai emirate to increase as it continues to build man made islands off its coast thus extending the shore lines and its boundaries. On the other side of Dubai is the Arabian Gulf.
