Casas Particulares In Cuba

By Jose Mauricio Maurette

In these days of economic crisis traveling is becoming less affordable. Holidays to Cuba is not an exception. Flights an airport taxes are ridiculously expensive and accommodation in hotels in Cuba is not exactly cheap either.

There are a number of ways to cut down the cost of your holidays to Cuba and today I would like to focus in one in particular. As I mention before hotels in Cuba are not very cheap with the exception of very few 2 or 3 star hotels that are always full and it is very difficult to find rooms available unless you book like a year in advance or so.

There is another option available in Cuba for accommodation. Casas Particulares is the term used to call private rentals in Cuba. These Casas or houses however you prefer to call them rent 1 or 2 rooms for as little as $25.00 per room per night. If you are sharing the room with someone else then it works at $12 to $13.00 per person per night. It really does not get any cheaper than this in Cuba.

As you probably know Cuba is a communist country with very strict regulations when it comes to private business. The government has imposed a series of limitations to the landlords that some find a bit annoying.

Home owners in Cuba that rent their houses follow the government restrictions. The risk of loosing your property or your license is too high. It is very difficult to find a house her you can stay on your own but there are ways. Visit Private Villa Rentals in Cuba if you require further advice.

So what I am trying to say is that staying in Casas Particulares in Cuba is a good idea for cutting down the cost of your holidays to Cuba but is not for everybody. This type of accommodation is suitable for people that have no problem sharing a house with a Cuban family.

There is a way though to get to stay on a private house on your own without having to share with a Cuban family. There are few options available mainly in Havana. The problem is that you are not going to find landlords advertising their rentals on the web on an independent basis because it is illegal. In this case what you should do is to get in touch directly with them and negotiate the terms of your accommodation.
